Rental Process
How do I rent equipment from Dirt Works Depot?
Call us at (845) 863-5917 or submit a quote request through our website. Let us know what equipment you need, your project dates, and your delivery location. We'll confirm availability and pricing, and schedule delivery to your job site.
What do I need to rent equipment?
You'll need a valid driver's license, proof of insurance (or you can add our rental insurance), and a credit card on file. Commercial customers can set up a business account for streamlined rentals.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance to guarantee availability, especially during peak season (spring through fall). For larger equipment or multi-week rentals, a week's notice is ideal. We do accommodate last-minute requests when equipment is available.
Pricing & Payment
What are your rental rates?
Rates vary by equipment type and rental duration. Mini excavators start around $250/day, compact excavators around $350-$450/day, and skid steers around $300-$400/day. daily and weekly rates offer significant discounts. Request a quote or call us for specific pricing.
Do you offer weekly or monthly discounts?
Yes. Weekly rates are typically equivalent to 4-5 days at the daily rate, and daily and weekly rates offer even deeper savings. The longer your rental, the lower your effective daily cost. Contact us for specific weekly and monthly pricing.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, checks, and cash. Commercial accounts can be set up with net-30 terms upon credit approval. A credit card on file is required for all rentals.
Insurance
Do I need insurance to rent equipment?
Yes, all rented equipment must be covered by insurance. You can provide your own commercial general liability and equipment insurance, or you can add our rental insurance for 15% of the rental cost.
What does the 15% insurance add-on cover?
Our rental insurance add-on covers accidental damage to the equipment during your rental period. It does not cover theft, intentional damage, or damage caused by misuse or unauthorized modifications. A deductible may apply depending on the equipment value.
Delivery
Where do you deliver equipment?
We deliver throughout the Hudson Valley, covering Orange, Dutchess, and Ulster counties. This includes Newburgh, Middletown, Goshen, Monroe, Warwick, Beacon, Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, Kingston, New Paltz, and surrounding areas. See our full service area list.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery fees are based on distance from our Newburgh yard. Local deliveries within 20 miles are typically $150-$250 round trip. Extended deliveries up to 40+ miles vary. Contact us with your delivery address for an exact quote.
Can I get same-day delivery?
Same-day delivery is available for locations within our primary zone (about 20 miles from Newburgh), subject to equipment and truck availability. Next-day delivery is our standard for all service areas. Call early in the day for the best chance of same-day service.
Equipment Selection
What size excavator do I need for my project?
It depends on the job. For landscaping, trenching, and small residential work, a 1-3 ton mini excavator is usually sufficient. Foundations, drainage, and mid-size projects typically need a 3-6 ton compact excavator. Large commercial excavation and demolition call for 6-8.5 ton machines. Call us and describe your project — we'll recommend the right size.
Should I rent a skid steer or an excavator?
Excavators are best for digging, trenching, and demolition — any job where you need to dig below grade. Skid steers are better for grading, material handling, snow removal, and jobs where you need to push or carry material across a site. Many contractors rent both for larger projects. We can help you decide based on your specific needs.

Where are you located?
We're located at 1775 Route 300 in Newburgh, NY 12550. Our yard is easy to find right on Route 300, centrally located in the Hudson Valley for fast delivery to Orange, Dutchess, and Ulster counties.
What are your business hours?
We're open Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM, and Saturday from 9AM to 2PM. We're closed on Sundays. For after-hours inquiries, leave a message or submit a quote request online and we'll get back to you first thing the next business day.
